Pricena hits 1 million lifetime leads, 1.5 million monthly pageviews

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Dubai, UAE | Pricena hits 1 million lifetime leads, 1.5 million monthly pageviews

Two years after its launch in 2013, the leading Middle East-focused shopping comparison site Pricena.com has generated 1 million leads to its partner stores and has reached 1.5 million monthly pageviews, and at the current growth rate the company expects to reach 1 million monthly visitors by end of the year.

Pricena started in the United Arab Emirates and quickly expanded its presence to Egypt then Saudi Arabia. The website helps online shoppers compare prices across a wide range of categories such as electronics, fashion, furniture or office supplies. In recent months the company also released its native Android and iOS apps, further capitalizing on the phenomenal growth of mobile e-commerce. “We continue to grow month over month on all metrics in web and apps, including number of products, traffic and revenue”, says founder Haneen Dabain.

The site has among its customers online-only stores in addition to well-known retailers such as Jumbo or Axiom Telecom in the UAE who have started exploring the online channel. “When we launched Pricena we knew there was a good number of online stores who needed help in marketing their products, but the number of stores that are signing up with us has exceeded our expectations”. While online shoppers are still largely buying electronics, other stores catering for a specific vertical, like office supplies, are offering a convenient alternative to consumers.

Online e-commerce is booming in the Middle East, especially in the UAE where the quality of the shopping experience offered by online stores is well ahead countries like Egypt or Saudi Arabia. Shoppers in Saudi Arabia are still largely underserved by local online stores and turn to global players like Amazon and Ali Express, although Dabain affirms that new upcoming players are filling this gap quickly. “We list Amazon prices on Pricena so that our shoppers can compare local prices with Amazon’s, and we’ve found that on average 60% of products are cheaper locally than through Amazon. Some of our users who would previously buy on Amazon are now shopping locally”.

According to Dabain, price, speedy delivery and after-sales service remain the most important criteria for online shoppers. The site will soon be releasing store reviews to help its users look beyond the price and who might be willing to pay a little extra for same day or next day deliveries. “Our goal is to bring complete transparency in online shopping, and we act as an unbiased third-party that advises the consumer by providing as much information as possible about online shopping.”, concludes Dabain.
