Review for Motorola Moto 360

Moto 360

If you’re someone looking for the trendiest wearable electronics, fashion is more important than function 9 times out of 10. Motorola definitely took hold of this mantra during their design of the Moto 360 and consumers and critics alike agree. The design of the Moto 360 is superb with a leather band, chamfered glass and classic circular design, this Android Wear is easily the best-looking and most fashionable of all wearables available on the market in Dubai. Yes, the Moto 360 in Dubai is the most attractive device but how does it stack up in every other category?

Hardware

The biggest claim to fame of the Moto 360 is it’s unique round face. All other similar devices available are square or rectangular in shape which really makes this device stand out. It looks really good on anyone’s wrist and looks like an actual timepiece and could be easily mistaken for one. Yes, the design of the round watch face had a lot of time and thought put into it but so did the materials used to create this smartwatch.

The body of the watch is constructed from sustainable stainless steel and glass with a leather strap which is sourced from the top notch Chicago tannery. In relation to the feel of other smartwatches, the M360 is actually comfortable when worn thanks to the leather which feels much softer, more flexible, and lighter than the typical rubber straps at only 49 grams. The available watchbands come in black, dark gray and light grey which are all interchangeable.

Display

The circular display on the watch allows the pixels to easily spread across the entire surface, leaving a beautiful silver bezel around it. The leaves almost the entire watch face to be all screen which cannot be said about most other watches. The entire screen spans 1.56” across with a 320x290 resolution which means there’s 205 pixels per sq/in. This results in a colorful, vibrant, and sharp display that is lovely and crisp even in bright sunlight.moto-360-on-black-100412615-orig

Much effort was put into making sure the UI would play nice with the round screen. Motorola worked closely with Google to be sure this would be a success so that text wouldn’t get cut off around the corners when reading long messages. The circular design does make the beveled edge a bit jagged at some points, especially on white backgrounds. Thanks to the ambient light sensor, the Moto 260 supports auto-brightness and is equipped with a backlit LCD which makes the watch readable in sunlight.

Features

Of course the Moto 360 can tell time but it can also do a plethora of other things as well. It can transmit information straight from your phone to your wrist such as social media notifications, text messages, and phone calls. One of the new features on the Moto 360 Dubai that is not included with most other wearables in navigation. There are also a few fitness apps that gives you the ability to track your steps and heart rate as well as having a pedometer.

The Moto 360 runs off a 320 mAh battery which is pretty tiny compared to batteries in smartphones. With heavy use of the watch, you would be lucky to make it through just one day. It is powered by the TI OMAP3630 processor which is actually similar to the type of chip used in the Droid 2. This leads to some lagging at times but unless you’re attempting to heavily multi-task on the watch, you shouldn’t see much.

The Bottom Line

The design of the Moto 360 is definitely its largest point of interest as it’s unique in its round shape. It offered many features as the competitors such as a pedometer and heart rate sensor but there are additional features such as wireless charging and the ambient light sensor. The battery life is not the best and will most likely need to be charges once per day but that is not much different than any smartphone.

Pros

  • Display
  • Design
  • Wireless Charging
  • Comfortable and Lightweight

Cons

  • Bad Battery Life
  • Large Size
