Why the UAE is Shopping Increasingly Online

UAE e-commerce has been booming for the past 2 years. The UAE has long been a buzzing trading hub but now small traditional retailers are going online. There are more than 100 online stores in the UAE selling anything from electronics to furniture, fashion and perfumes, sports equipment and musical instruments. Big box retailers like Jumbo recently opened their online store, going head to head with their offline competitors Sharaf DG and Axiom Telecom who have had an online store for more than 2 years.

But online stores continue to be fiercely competitive on price, often offering best-selling products for up to 500 AED cheaper than in malls. This is a powerful value proposition for consumers who are increasingly buying online from the comfort of their homes.
